Letter from the CEO
In 2020, we all had to face the greatest global crisis in decades due to the COVID-19 pandemics and while I am writing this, the struggle continues. I was deeply impressed by Poles’ response to the pandemic - the solidarity, amazing generosity and the care for the common good. Together with merchants we focused on delivering products to millions of Poles who were staying home to keep all of us safe. While all our employees, just like anyone in Poland, were negatively impacted by lockdown, on top of their regular duties they managed to create a number of powerful initiatives directly supporting our clients, merchants, Polish healthcare professionals and many other groups. The total value of our assistance so far reached over PLN 375 million. I am proud to say that as Allegro we did our best to prove that Poles can rely on us even when times are hard and that we will do anything necessary to support the Polish community.
In the second half of 2020, we will be announcing the new Sustainability Strategy, which will mark the key areas on which we are planning to focus in the next few years. The Allegro ecosystem is responsible for creating dozens of thousands of jobs and supporting businesses of our merchants and business partners. It’s an important part of the Polish economy, so nurturing it is our key task. We will continue to support it and look for even more ways to maximize our positive impact on the Polish economy, the natural environment and the society.
I wish you an interesting read!
Francois Nuyts,
CEO of Allegro
